Background Scoop on “Random Citizen” Who Found RNC HQ Bomb, Karlin Younger

Karlin Younger continues to come up as the “random citizen” who came across the pipe bomb placed outside of the RNC HQ on January 5/6th, 2021. But how random is she, and how much of how many coincidences can we take?

Most of the following content was taken from a local hometown hero puff piece published by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Any other information was gathered from publicly available sources.

Mid-West Girl with International Ambitions

Younger grew up in Madison and always had a fascination with politics and what life was like outside of Wisconsin. She graduated from Madison High School in 2002 and four years later graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she studied international relations and Chinese. Once she graduated, she studied abroad in China and taught English. Later, she attended Oxford and after graduating she was hired on by London-based consulting firm Control Risks as an analyst focusing on “transnational terrorism”. Later, she came back stateside and held various positions with First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet). It during this time that she allegedly found the pipe bomb that was stashed behind the RNC HQ.

Where Is Karlin Now?

Younger has had a very interesting career since finding the pipe bomb at the RNC HQ, which all seems to be squarely within the private intelligence sector.

From June 2023, Karlin has been working as a Principal Product Manager at Pendulum, a platform that provides consultation services based on narrative-based intelligence analytics.

In November 2022, Karlin took on the role of Co-Chair of the Product Committee at OIX Association, a position that they still hold.

From December 2022 to June 2023, Karlin worked as the Director of Intelligence & Analysis at Seerist, an augmented analytics solution for threat and risk intelligence professionals.

Prior to that, from October 2021 to October 2022, Karlin served as the Co-Founder & CEO of FireFlyht, an early-stage deep tech startup developing autonomous navigation technology for unmanned systems.
